There is something new under the sun, and it's very exciting for Washingtonians! Last year, a factory in Marysville started producing solar modules for sale to the general public through approved solar contractors. This company, Silicon Energy, has unlocked some terrific incentives for our solar customers with their made-in-Washington solar modules, and after installing many Silicon Energy systems over the last year, we feel that this product offers more than just the best financial incentives.

As the rest of the industry has been racing to produce the cheapest solar modules, predictably sacrificing quality along the way, Silicon Energy has quietly developed a unique product with unmatched aesthetics, durability, and safety. When we completed our very first Silicon Energy solar array in early 2010, we knew that this one was our most durable yet. With the solar cells encapsulated between two solid sheets of glass, and all of the wiring tucked safely inside the attractive mounting system, these arrays are ready for the long haul.

Naturally, a high quality product costs more to produce, and the Silicon Energy product is no exception. We're happy to offer other quality alternatives such as Sanyo, Sharp, and Solarworld modules when our customers need a lower up-front cost or higher power density. However, we've found that at this time, the Silicon Energy product offers the best long-term value for our customers through the generous production incentives for in-state manufactured solar modules.

Now through June of 2020, the Washington State production incentive for the Silicon Energy modules and inverter system is 54 cents/kWh. These systems result in production payments that are over three times what you get for a comparable system made from out-of-state components. Because the incentive law expires in the year 2020, every day that passes between now and then is one less opportunity for increasing the return on your investment.
